Vinci has clinched two deals worth £150m in the roadbuilding and waste sectors, in East Sussex and Guernsey respectively.

The firm, in joint venture with Hochtief, has won East Sussex County Council’s £65m Bexhill to Hastings link road scheme.

Vinci/Hochtief saw off Carillion, May Gurney, Birse and a consortium of Bam/Nuttall/Costain to win the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) deal.

Vinci/Hochtief will build a new 5.6km dual-carriageway linking the outskirts of Bexhill and Hastings, which will partly follow the route of the disused Bexhill to Crowhurst railway line.

Vinci has also seen off rivals as part of a group led by French group Suez Environnement to clinch the State of Guernsey’s £85m energy-from-waste scheme.

Vinci Construction will deliver the construction element, along with local firm Rihoy & Son. The new facility at the Longue Hougue in Guernsey will see 95% of the waste that goes into it either recycled or turned into energy.
