Morgan Ashurst has won a £10.5m contract to extend and refurbish the Students’ Union building at the University of Leicester.
The work is part of the University’s £1bn redevelopment programme, which will see its estate transformed over a 30-year period.
Morgan Ashurst will transform the existing Students’ Union building, known as Percy Gee.
The project will involve providing a new nightclub / lounge bar and live music venue, an activities resource centre for clubs and societies, a new education and representation service and a shop. Morgan Ashurst will also improve the existing accommodation agency.
The project is aiming to achieve a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) rating of Excellent for the scheme.
The project is due to be completed in August 2010.
