Lovell has won a £5.6m contract to build 61 new affordable homes across three sites in Leeds for Accent Foundation housing association.
Construction starts this month on the new homes and is set for completion in summer 2010.
The homes will meet Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, the system for measuring the environmental impact and energy efficiency of new homes.
“We’re excited to be working with Accent Foundation and the local community to deliver these new, high-quality, energy efficient affordable homes,” Lovell regional director Noel Adams said.
Head of residential development for Accent Group Andy Gamble, added:
“After 12 months’ hard work in the planning stage, we are very pleased to finally get the first phase of sites underway. This is an important initiative for Leeds and we are delighted to be working with Lovell to deliver these much needed affordable homes.”
