Alan Ritche has beaten Mick Dooley to retain the leadership of construction union UCATT.
The incumbent won by a margin of 60% to 40%.
Ritchie said: "I am delighted that UCATT’s members have shown their support for my leadership and have elected me for a second term. I am committed to building on the deep foundations laid in my first term, to ensure that UCATT continues to grow in membership, authority and influence."
Results for the contest were returned yesterday.
The win for Ritchie means that he is guaranteed to hold the post, which he first took in 2004, for the next eight years until his retirement.
