Eve adds site security

By Colin Sowman

Eve Trakway has added a portable freestanding intruder alarm system to its range, which it says can help secure remote sites at a cost some 20%-25% cheaper than a static guard.

The basis of the system is a series of posts, typically at 40m intervals, set up around the site perimeter each carrying digital movement, heat, mass and vibration sensors. If an intruder is detected, a message is sent back to the control room (run jointly by Eve Trakway and Security and Facilities Management) using GPRS, GPS and satellite and a nearby security guard is dispatched to investigate.

Each 'post' is battery powered, with the batteries lasting up to three-years. A tilt switch automatically raises the alarm if it is tipped over. Eve's site services manager Simon Messenger said the company is hoping to add CCTV to the system in the near future.
