Morgan Ashurst wins £2.3m hospital extension job

Morgan Ashurst has won a £3.2m contract to build an extension at Velindre Hospital in Cardiff, which will include ‘bunkers’ to house new radiotherapy machines.

The contractor will build the ‘bunkers’, which will contain radiotherapy machinery, at the hospital’s specialist cancer care centre. 

The bunkers have been designed to provide radiation shielding for staff, patients and the public. 

The new extension will also feature all supporting examination, consulting and office spaces.

Work is set to complete in May 2010.
