Costain has won a £225m contract to design and build a new wastewater treatment works in Brighton and Hove, as part of the 4D consortium.
The project, for Southern Water, will begin immediately and will take three years to complete, followed by the potential to operate and maintain the plant for two years.
The other members of the consortium are United Utilities and Montgomery Watson Harza.
Andrew Wyllie, Chief Executive of Costain, said:
