Morgan Ashurst has been named preferred bidder for the £100m Tayside Acute Adult Mental Health Developments PPP.
Working jointly for Taycare - a joint venture between Morgan Sindall Investments and Robertson Capital Projects (RCP), on behalf of NHS Tayside and the North of Scotland Planning Group - Morgan Ashurst will provide new mental healthcare facilities at Murray Royal Hospital in Perth and Stracathro Hospital in Angus.
The inpatient facilities provided will be for NHS Tayside General Adult Psychiatry, Psychiatry of Old Age, Low Secure Care Services and the new Medium Secure Service. In total, 183 bed spaces will be created at Murray Royal Hospital, with an additional 52 at Stracathro Hospital.
Harry Thorburn, Morgan Ashurst managing director in Scotland said: "This appointment recognises our expertise in the delivery of high-value, complex facilities, particularly PPP and PFI hospitals, where we are able to design and deliver highly complex buildings such as the recently completed £250 million University College Hospital in London."
Work at both hospitals begins early 2010 with both facilities opened by early 2012.
