Morrison signed five contracts totalling £45m within a two day period last week.

One contract, worth £25m over five years, was secured with East Durham Homes to provide maintenance work for more than 8,000 homes across the area.

Guy Wakeley, chief executive of Morrison, said: “To sign five contracts in two days is an amazing achievement. The successful mobilisation of four of these contracts on the same day was a huge job.

“To date we have won seven new contracts this year and have three more to be signed by the end of July.”

The four other contracts were signed with Riverside Group, a five-year deal worth £11.5m, Manchester City Council, comprising two deals worth £5.5m, and a three-year project with Babergh District Council worth £2.7m.
