Shepherd Construction has been awarded the £84m contract to build the new campus for Bournville College at Longbridge, Birmingham.
The firm was up against Galliford Try, Morgan Ashurst, John Sisk & Son and Bowmer & Kirkland for the work.
Last month the college was named as one of 13 schemes by the Learning and Skills Council to get funding.
The scheme will see the existing Bournville College relocated from Northfield to Longbridge, former home of MG Rover, bringing all three campuses under a 25,000m2 premises with capacity for 15,000 students.
It will include teaching blocks, sports hall, motor works, and a communal area with associated atrium.
Property developer St Mowden, together with joint land owner Advantage West Midlands, is working on behalf of the college, and the project is due to be completed in time to open September 2011.
