Citroën has introduced an enhanced traction (XTR+) version of its front-wheel drive New Berlingo van.
The vehicle benefits from the New Berlingo's increased load volume, while occasional third seat and XTR+ versions also get a limited slip-diff, heavy-duty suspension, more ground clearance, mud and snow tyres, a sump guard and underbody protection. Compared with the standard van, the on-cost is in the region of £1,500.
According to Citroën the New Berlingo XTR+ has a higher load volume than many 4x4s while costing considerably less. Running costs are also lower due to the two-wheel drive, and the automatic action of the limited slip-diff means the driver need do nothing to gain the additional traction.
