John Laing Investments is in the running for Gloucestershire County Council's £171m PFI waste scheme.
Ten firms have been shortlisted to bid for the scheme. Bidders will work up solutions including proposals on which technolgy the council should use.
The ten firms are:
Biffa Waste Services
Cory Environmental Management
CoCovanta Energy
John Laing Investments
MVV Umwelt GmbH
Sustainable solutions for Gloucestershire
Urbaser S.A.
Veolia Aurora
Viridor Waste Management
Waste Recycling Group.
Gloucestershire County Council’s environment lead Cllr Stan Waddington said: “I’m really pleased with the numbers of bidders that are going through to the next stage. In the current climate, having ten companies showing a willingness to invest in Gloucestershire is great news.
“With this many bidders going through there is potential for a range of technologies and sites to come forward with a really good level of competition.”
Gloucestershire County Council has yet to make a decision on what technology it will use. However its Outline Busineess Case suggests an energy from waste plant.
