Wates wins £40m Yorkshire hotel

Wates has won a £40m contract to build the five star Flaxby Country Resort in North Yorkshire.

Client the Skelwith Group is developing the 300 room leisure development, situated between York and Harrogate.  It will open in 2011, with construction work expected to start late this year.  Up to 400 workers will be needed on site and local tradesmen and women will be used wherever possible. 

Featuring a luxury spa, bars, restaurants and boutiques the 240,000 ft development will be set around the existing 27-hole golf courseamong nearly 300 acres of Yorkshire Countryside.
