By Neil Gerrard

Carillion has been confirmed as the winner of a £116m contract to build the Low Moss prison in East Dunbartonshire, as revealed by ContractJournal.com in June.

The contractor, which beat Skanska to the deal, will start work on the 700-cell facility this year, with completion scheduled for 2012.

The prison accommodation blocks will be built to a BREEAM 'excellent' rating.
