Eight shortlisted for £2bn managed motorways framework

Eight firms have been shortlisted for a place on the Highways Agency’s £2bn managed motorway framework.

The shortlisted bidders are:

  • Amey/Skanska
  • Balfour Beatty
  • BAM Nuttall/Morgan Est
  • Carillion
  • Costain/Serco
  • Galliford Try
  • Laing O’Rourke
  • Sir Robert McAlpine

An award is due to be made in January next year, following the submission of tenders in September this year.

Work under the framework is likely to involve: hard shoulder running schemes on the M4 and M5 around Bristol, the M6 J5-8 around Birmingham, the M1 J32-35a east of Sheffield, the M62 J18-20 in Manchester and J25-30 from Bradford to Leeds, and the M60 J8-12 around Manchester.
