Balfour Beatty Construction and Thomas Vale/Wates have been selected for design and build contracts on Stoke-on-Trent City Council's £250m BSF programme.
The two teams beat Galliford Try and Carillion to the deal.
The programme involves the building and refurbishment of secondary and special schools throughout the city and includes five brand new academies.
The managing director for Balfour Beatty Construction North, Dave Donaldson, said:” We are delighted to be involved as a partner with Stoke-on-Trent City Council to deliver their BSF programme. This will create training and employment opportunities both for Balfour Beatty in Stoke-on-Trent and our well established local supply chain.”
Phil Harrison, Wates Construction’s managing director for Midlands and the North, said: “I am delighted that Wates Construction, together with Thomas Vale Construction, has been chosen to help Stoke-0n-Trent City Council deliver its BSF programme. This scheme will not only help transform the standard of educational facilities within the area, but will also create a number of job and training opportunities - including apprenticeships - for local people.
