Top 5 construction tenders - 13 August 2009

This week's top five construction tenders include a £300m framework for London Underground, sports facilities in Fife and Warrington, and the manufacture and installation of 19,000 bus stops in London. The details are only a summary of what's available, for the full OJEU click on the link.

London: Civils maintenance

  • Value: £250m-£300m
  • London Underground is advertising for up to 10 contractors to be part of a five year maintenance framework. Covering much of London's underground system, the work includes periodic renewal and maintenance of bridges, deep tube tunnels, earth structures, pumps and drainage. As part of the contract the framework partners will also be expected to provide support services in the form of an emergency response team and handyman unit.

London: Housing

  • Value: £15m-£100m
  • Brent Housing Partnership (BHP) is looking for a joint venture partner to bid with for housing opportunities. The contractor will be expected to fund the design and build of new housing, which BHP say it expects to purchase on completion. Volumes will depend on the funding obtained by BHP.
  • Deadline: 28 August

Fife: Sports facilities

  • Value: £31m-34m
  • Fife Council is planning to build two new sports facilities, one in Glenrothes and the second in Kirkcaldy. The centre in Glenrothes is to feature a full sized artificial pitch and running track as well as a 25m swimming pool and training pools. In Kirkcaldy, the community facilities will include a new sports hall and 25m swimming pool.

Warrington: Leisure facilities

  • Value: £27m
  • Warrington Borough Council is advertising for a contractor to take on the Orford Park Project, a scheme to redevelop an existing park in the town. The work includes the construction of a three storey sports facility featuring a swimming pool, sports hall and library, as well as a car park and external work including a bmx park and artificial pitches.
  • Deadline: 15 September

London: Bus stops

  • Value: £16.5m
  • London Bus Services needs a contractor to manufacture, supply and install bus stops and associated street furniture throughout London. The winning bidder will install the bus stops, having built the foundations, aluminium posts, flags and timetable frames.
