Cemex takes Sennebogen 870R-HD

By Paul Howard

The UK’s first electric-powered Sennebogen Green Line 870R-HD crane has been delivered to building materials supplier Cemex.

The £500,000 crane has been put to work at Cemex’s Battersea wharf on the Thames, unloading 750t of marine aggregates delivered on barges from the company’s Northfleet plant. Each barge has to be processed in a two-hour window dictated by the tide. The discharged aggregates are used at the company’s adjacent ready-mixed concrete plant.

According to the company, the 87t crane is more economical to run and quieter than its diesel equivalent, and produces no direct emissions.
