By James Stagg

Interserve has been awarded a two year contract extension for its work in the Falkland Islands and Ascension Island.

The MOD deal is worth up to £24m and includes estate maintenance, power generation, water production, sewerage treatment and disposal, waste management and grounds maintenance.

Brian Talbot, managing director (defence) at Interserve, said: “We will carry on our work with Defence Estates to deal with the changing requirements of the customer community on the Falklands Islands and Ascension Island. A skilled workforce of St Helenian, Falkland, South American and UK personnel is used on site and we are extremely proud of the work they do on a daily basis in such a unique location.”

Interserve has been delivering support services to the MOD in the Falklands since 1998. In 2004, it was awarded a new Infrastructure Support Provider (ISP) contract with an expanded remit that covers Ascension Island.
