Speedy joins ladder exchange

Speedy Hire has joined the annual UK-wide Ladder Exchange campaign. It is offering to exchange old and faulty ladders at its access depots and a discount of up to 50% on ladders and stepladders certified to BSEN131 or BS2037.

The news comes as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local authority enforcement officers started checking ladders as part of its annual campaign to reduce the number of accidents caused by unsafe ladders. Peter Brown, head of the HSE's work environment, radiation and gas division, said more than a quarter of falls from height, which in 2007/08 killed 58 workers and seriously injured over 3,600, involved ladders.
