The construction programme for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi is falling dangerously behind schedule, with 14 of the 19 sports venues and nine transport infrastructure projects running late.
That's the warning from the president of the Commonwealth Games Federation Michael Fennell who has demanded a meeting with Manmohan Singh, India's Prime Minister, to discuss the issue.
In a letter to the Delhi organising committee, Fennell said he was "extremely worried" that Delhi would not match the 2002 Games in Manchester, or the 2006 Games in Melbourne, according to the Times.
"With only a year to run until the Games I feel I must brief the Prime Minister on the lack of preparations and to see his input in developing an appropriate recovery plan," Fennell said.
The comments come after a report by the GCF's co-ordination commission which warns of a "partial failure" of the Games, due to start in October 2010.
