Balfour and Wates left in £300m Ealing BSF chase

By Neil Gerrard

Balfour Beatty Education and Wates have made it to the final two on the £300m Ealing Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

Meanwhile the Equitix group, which has Willmott Dixon and Galliford Try on board as its contractors, has lost out.

Balfour and QED Wates will now enter into further detailed discussions with the council and progress their initial plans for all aspects of the programme, including developing in-depth designs for The Cardinal Wiseman School in Greenford and Dormers Wells High School in Southall.

Construction on these two schools is scheduled to start in October 2010, with all work completed by 2015.

Seventeen existing schools are set to benefit from the investment and a new school is also planned for the north of the borough.

Final bids are due to be submitted next February with the winning consortium announced in early April.
