Up to 200 police officers will attend a special afternoon re-run of the Construction Industry Theft Solutions' (CITS) Profit Without Loss conference at JCB on 3 November. DC Ian Elliott, who heads up the Plant and Agricultural National Intelligence Unit and will speak at the conference, said: "This shows the level of interest police forces around the country have in tackling plant theft."
For civilian delegates, the conference runs in the morning and both sessions will be addressed by speakers ranging from Home Office minister Alan Campbell and utility contractors to hire companies, insurers and the police. Subjects range from the latest scams criminals use to steal plant and recovery rates for stolen kit, to moves by contractors and insurance companies to reduce theft and prevent fraud.
In addition, 16 companies will be displaying security-related products and services at the event, ranging from Garic's secure plant storage to satellite tracking systems and marking schemes such as Cesar. Exhibitors include tracking system suppliers Satrack, Tracker, Quartix and Automatrics, as well as immobilisation systems like Kosran, MF Hydraulics and site security experts such as Allsite Security and Clarke Construction Security.
The delegate fee for the morning session, including lunch, is £95 (CEA, CPA and AEA members get a discount) with £3 donated to the Lighthouse Club. A booking form can be downloaded, and places booked, online at www.cits-conference.co.uk or via the telephone on 01332 856 999.
