The proof of Clugston's outstanding success in the North Lincolnshire Highways Alliance is the council's decision to extend the arrangement for a further three years to 2012.
This is not surprising given 88% of projects were completed below target cost during 2008 and five days were on average shaved off projects completion schedules.
During the course of the alliance Clugston maintained a perfect safety record with no accidents.
The client also cited the quality of work as exemplary.
The alliance saved £500,000 adding to previous savings of £1.16m as well as developing a second tier partner supply chain.
The judges said for the size and type of company Clugston has a very impressive approach to the use of KPIs to measure its main activities.
No wonder it has delivered a perfect safety record over five years.
In 2008, the North Lincolnshire Highways Alliance also tackled key corporate social responsibility issues and dramatically raised the amount of recycled materials used, assessed the transport carbon footprint as well as developing a bespoke BTEC civil engineering training course with a local college.
Clugston is taking this successful approach and extending it to other regions.
