Taylor Woodrow wins £31.3m airport contract

London Gatwick Airport has signed a £31.3m contract with Taylor Woodrow for the redevelopment of Pier Two on the airport's South Terminal.

The work will increase the number of stands on the south side of the pier from the existing 9 to 13, which, in turn, will prepare the airfield for the future demolition and redevelopment of Pier One.

David Brewer, the airport's development director, said: "This important contract is a significant part of the £1bn capital investment programme now being implemented at London Gatwick Airport. In addition to enhancing the facilities and environment for our passengers, and improved service for our airlines, the changes will enable us to make a more efficient use of the airfield, taxiways and airport infrastructure and prepare us for the future."
