Pre-planning notice

  • The Waverley Railway Project - The reinstatement of 35 miles of rail track between Edinburgh Waverley through Midlothian and on to Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders. The reinstatement of the line incorporates three existing stations with the creation of seven new stations.
  • Additional Information: Royal Assent was achieved for this scheme 24 July 2006, granting powers to construct. Scott Wilson Railways will oversee the engineering requirements for the project including line and station design, surveys, maintenance, signalling and earthworks. Environmental Resources Management have been appointed environmental advisors for the design and construction of the new railway. The total scheme value is between £235 - £295 Million. The client has identified Design, Build, Finance and Operate as the most cost effective way to advance the scheme. The Client is in the final stages of preparation for Outline Business Case submission. A preferred bidder should be identified late 2010. The procurement process for this scheme will begin late 2009 with the publication of an OJEU notice.
