William Hare turnover passes £200m mark

Steel firm William Hare boosted its pre-tax profit by almost 9% in 2008, and hired more than 200 extra staff.

The company made £15.1m for the year, compared to £13.5m in the previous year.

Turnover at the company also increased for the year to 31 December 2008, rising to £213.6m (2007: £182.2m).

William Hare said that it had continued to invest in its steel fabrication capabilities in the United Arab Emirates, as well as its engineering arm in Chennai, India.

"The directors believe that the Group is well placed to take advantage of the global opportunities which exist across its core sectors and geographical markets," the firm said in its statement.
