North Wales civil engineering firm Jones Bros has bought a division of neighbouring contractor B&M Solutions, which recently went into administration.
The acquisition saves 20 jobs in the gas, pumps and lining division of Bangor-based B&M Solutions. However, Ruthin-based Jones Bros has not acquired the B&M Solutions name or premises.
“The acquisition made business sense for us as well as saving the jobs of workers we know and respect,” said Ruth Jones, assistant commercial manager of Jones Bros and grandaughter of founder, Huw Jones.
“We have agreed to take on works in progress so that they can be completed to clients’ satisfaction. The employees who have now joined Jones Bros are continuing to work on jobs we are currently finishing on behalf of B&M Solutions."
B&M Solutions operates in the landfill construction and maintenance sector. In particular, it supplies and installs gas and contaminated liquid management systems. These systems are associated with new and existing waste disposal and waste-to-energy conversion schemes.
Jones Bros, which operates in waste management and plant hire as well as civil engineering, reported a turnover of £38m in the last financial year.
