A worker died at Cemex's Rugby plant last week despite desperate efforts by his workmates to save him following a 10m fall. Peter Reynolds, 28, died at the scene last Tuesday afternoon.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "On arrival, the crews found a patient who had fallen approximately 10m from a building.
"Unfortunately, despite all of the efforts of those at the scene, it was simply not possible to save the man and he was confirmed dead by the doctor from the Air Ambulance."
In a statement, a Cemex spokeswoman said: "Peter's friends and colleagues at Cemex are devastated by this tragic event and our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
The firm said it would co-operate fully with the Health & Safety Executive, which is understood to be investigating.
