Keller Overview

Keller’s UK business was founded in the 1950s by GKN, the UK-based automotive and industrial services group. During the 1960s Keller grew to become a national piling and ground improvement company.

In 1990, Keller’s executive directors led a management buyout of the business from GKN and in May 1994 the company floated on the London Stock Exchange.

Since then Keller has made a number of acquisitions to grow the business and has expanded across the globe, particularly in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Australia.

Keller now has 6,200 staff world-wide with offices in over 30 countries spread across five continents. Its chief executive Justin Atkinson has held the post since 2004.

In 2003 the company withdrew from "under-performing heavy piling activities” after announcing a downturn in pre-tax profit which had halved to £930,000 in the fist six months of the year.

Keller was positioned 19th in the 2007 Contract Journal Construction Top 100.

In March 2008, Keller announced pre-tax profit was through the £100m barrier for the first time, in its annual results for the year to 31 December 2007.
