Carillion has scooped a £100m deal to deliver a high-profile mixed development in Kendal, Cumbria.
The scheme, in the Kirkland area of the town, will be built on the former K Shoes site and will be known as the K Village.
The job will include offices, 90 apartments, 21 retail units, five catering outlets, two floors of underground parking and a heritage centre. The whole deal is due by autumn 2009.
Carillion project manager Mark Conway said: "It is our intention to employ local labour and utilise companies and suppliers within the surrounding area."
