'Forced labour' firm has links to construction, says UCATT

A firm supplying mainly Polish labour to the agricultural industry and which has just been stripped of its licence by the Gangmasters Licensing Authortity also has links with construction, according to Ucatt.

The GLA has revoked the licence of Timberland Homes Recruitment after uncovering "a disgraceful story of forced labour."

An investigation by Ucatt's Eastern region is said to have provided photographic evidence that Timberland is also operating in construction.

Union general secretary Alan Ritchie said the case was further evidence of the need to extend the GLA's remit. He commented: "It is a crazy situation that the GLA is barred from investigating all aspects of this company."
