Trump to continue with £1bn golf project because of mother's Scottish roots

Donald Trump has claimed that he would have walked away from his planned £1bn golf resort if his mother had not come from Scotland, according to the Independent newspaper today.

Trump’s plans for the resort had been rejected by Aberdeenshire Council but he is now contesting the decision.

The US tycoon spoke to the newspaper after a brief visit to his mother’s home of Stornoway in the Isle of Lewis.
