SUEZ Energy Services has won a £90m contract to build and operate two energy centres and community energy networks at Olympic Park.

Through its subsidiary Elyo, SUEZ has been given planning permission to build centres on the west of the park and one in Westfield’s Stratford City development.

SUEZ will recover the £90m investment through long-term operation rights for the new infrastructure.

Construction of the energy centres, designed by John McAslan and Partners, will begin later this summer.

They are to include a combined cooling heat and power plant and will be equipped with biomass boilers.

The Olympic Delivery Authority said some of the energy infrastructure will also be housed in a historical building at Kings Yard to be renovated for the purpose.
