T Clarke upbeat on future trading

By John Leitch

T Clarke, the electrical contractor, has offered an upbeat trading statement this morning, saying that the first half of its financial year went exactly to plan and that it expects to make further progress in the second half.

Clarke’s interim financial period covers the six months to 30 June and fuller profit details will be issued on 29 August.

Pat Stanborough, chief executive, said: “In these uncertain times it is encouraging that enquiry levels remain high, we are preferred bidder for several major contracts, cashflow is positive and the group is in good shape.”

Clarke’s current orderbook stands at £235m with £100m of this scheduled for completion in the current financial year.

Potential new work, where negotiations are at an advanced stage, would be expected to be ‘built-out’ during the period 2009 to 2011.

Recent wins include:

  • Waitrose store at White City, London
  • HMP Featherstone, Wolverhampton
  • Medway hospital CT scanning facility
  • South Kesteven Decent Homes programme
  • RAF Mildenhall
