By John Leitch

Freyssinet has enjoyed a climb in turnover to £16m last year and a near-doubling of pre-tax profit to £730,000.

The latest annual figures cover the 12 months to 31 December 2007.

In the previous year Freyssinet ran up a £440,000 pre-tax profit on a turnover of £12m.

The group is involved in civils operations, mainly pre-stressed concrete and bridge repair, bridge bearings and road bridge expansion joints.

It also provides systems for lifting and moving large structures and offers ground anchoring.

During the year, Freyssinet acquired the majority of the northern infrastructure business assets of Makers UK which had been a subsidiary of Keller Group. The deal was completed in September.

The assets comprised of most of the active contracts in Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland. All employees transferred as part of the year.

The acquisition added £1.7m to the group’s 2007 turnover.
