Clugston has cleaned up with a £50m flagship waste management centre in Gateshead.

The Derwenthaugh Ecoparc, for client Graphite Resources, is due for completion within 80 weeks.

The design and build job is split into four key areas. These are: a municipal solid waste reception, a steam treatment and separation plant, a light waste line/despatch area, plus a green waste and transfer station.

Additional office and floor space is also being provided for future development and the plant will be able to handle a total of 400,000 tonnes of waste.

The building will also feature the latest UV odour treatment technology.
