More than £100m of Metronet station upgrade work could be up for grabs this autumn, according to senior rail contractors.
Industry sources claim Transport for London (TfL) is looking at packaging up Metronet's £1bn station upgrade programme into construction management packages. The first contracts are expected to be let in October, but Metronet's £1bn maintenance programme is expected to remain in-house.
One contractor told CJ: "We understand this is TfL's preferred way of dealing with Metronet's stations programme. They are already using Mace and Balfour Beatty to pick up those station works that were suspended when Metronet went into administration. They are planning more of the same."
