BAM prepares for £42m West Midlands work

Industry sources are backing BAM Construction to bag the £42m redevelopment of Sutton Coldfield College in the West Midlands.

One insider claimed: "It's not a done deal yet, but BAM designers have been in contact with the college for months and the firm has a very aggressive marketing strategy."

Pitches from Taylor Woodrow and Kier Build have been expelled, but still potentially in the hunt are Norwest Holst and Balfour Beatty.

The source said: "Balfour was a late entrant into the fray but is trying hard to increase its presence in the Birmingham area."

Work on the 21,000m2 project is expected to start early next year for completion in 2010.
