A monthly meeting of Olympic chiefs yesterday was expected to confirm that the London 2012 equestrian events are to remain in Greenwich Park, despite protests.

According to the Evening Standard, a report by KPMG had concluded that it would be more expensive to move the event to alternative venues at Badminton or Hickstead in West Sussex.

The report was presented yesterday to a board consisting of Olympics minister Tessa Jowell, Mayor Boris Johnson and Sebastian Coe.

Meanwhile the 12,000 seat temporary basketball arena looks set to stay put in the north of the Olympic Park at Stratford, while shooting would stay at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich.
