A mix of local and national outfits are chasing two education contracts in Cheshire worth a total of more than £50m.
BAM Construction, Kier, Miller, local outfit Pochin and Taylor Wimpey have sent in bids for an estimated £38m deal to redevelop West Cheshire College's campus at Ellesmere Port.
The college's main base is at Handbridge Park near Chester and another deal is up for grabs to revamp this site.
BAM, Miller and Taylor Wimpey are facing off against two native contractors for this £13.5m job with Middlewich-based Pochin and Bardsley also in the frame.
Interserve had been rumoured to be on the list for both jobs, but a source at the firm ruled this out, saying: "Someone's put this round and we've been getting loads of calls, but we're not on it."
Tenders were expected in earlier on both jobs, but West Cheshire College gave the bidders on both deals an extension to work up their bids.
Bids for Handbridge Park were due in on 20 October, but now do not have to be returned until 7 November.
A decision is expected before Christmas on both jobs.
