Balfour Beatty boss escapes Mumbai horror

Balfour Beatty boss Ian Tyler is on his way back to Britain after being caught up in the terrorist violence in Mumbai.

Tyler is thought to have been staying in the Oberoi Hotel in the Indian city when it was stormed by armed gunmen.

Reports claim that he escaped the violence, in which around 100 people were killed, and took refuge in the British embassy.

A Balfour Beatty spokeswoman said: "He was in Mumbai, he is safe, and he is now on his way home."

She declined to confirm any other details.
