Total volume of construction output stays flat

The total volume of construction output in the third quarter of 2008 has remained unchanged compared with the second quarter, according to official government statistics released today.

But both new private housing and new public housing were 7% lower over the same period.

All new work rose by 2%, while repair and maintenance fell 2%.

The total volume of construction output in the 12 months to the third quarter of 2008 rose by 3% compared to the previous period.
