Galliford Try ready for new year start on £80m St Pancras Chambers

Work is expected to resume early in the New Year on the £80m St Pancras Chambers - more than 16 months after the original contractor walked off the job.

Developer Manhattan Loft Corporation is adamant the luxury apartments and hotel complex has not been threatened by the ensuing recession.

A spokeswoman said: "All apartments are sold, progress on site is going very well and a contract will be signed early in the New Year."

Laing O'Rourke quit the job in September 2006 following a row with the client.

A skeleton team from Galliford Try was brought in to secure the site and work has been in limbo ever since.

Galliford is expected to win the full contract to build 68 luxury apartments and a 245 bedroom hotel next to the restored St Pancras station.

A spokesman for Galliford Try said: "Contract negotiations are proceeding well and we are confident of concluding them in the New Year."

The £80m development at St Pancras has been on hold since 2006.
