Former tube building boss Ed Maloney has been handed a key role on Balfour Beatty’s £5bn M25 widening scheme.
Maloney was previously seconded to collapsed tube firm Metronet where he hit the headlines earlier this year following a probe into the award of electrical contracts on the underground.
He has now been appointed as project manager on a stretch of the M25 job due to be carried-out by the Balfour-Beatty led ConnectPlus consortium.
A contract for the Design, Build, Finance and Operate scheme is due to be officially signed next February.
Maloney will be project manager on one of three design and build contracts forming part of the UK’s largest ever road scheme.
