Scottish Building Federation 'disappointed' by CC quitters

The Scottish Building Federation, the only member of the Construction Confederation (CC) not to quit, is "disappointed" that everyone else has chosen to abandon ship.

The comments from Scottish Building's chief executive Michael Levack follow news that both the Civil Engineering Contractors Assocation (CECA) and the National Federation of Builders (NFB) have chosen to leave the CC at the end of 2009.

Their decision follows an announcement in July last year that the National Contractors Federation and the Major Contractors Group were leaving the CC to form the UK Contractors Group (UKCG). The British Woodworking Federation has also opted to leave the CC.

Levack said: "I am disappointed at the way it has happened. Surely you want to try and influence the changes within the existing set-up. I don't actually see what is significantly different in terms of the UKCG.

"We now intend to participate with CECA and the NFB to see what the future may hold."

No-one from the Construction Confederation was available to comment.
