Galliford Try, the hybrid group with both construction and house building activities, has won two contracts in education and hospitality worth a total of £36m.

One is a £20m award to build the Harris Boys Academy in East Dulwich for The Harris Federation of South London Schools.

Galliford says that the project “will boast a number of eco features to achieve 20% carbon reduction criteria through a combination of renewable energy technologies”. Completion is set for July 2010.

The second win is a £16m contract to develop a four-star 178-room hotel in Waterloo. It will be the first UK project for H10, the Spanish based hotel chain. The hotel will incorporate a biomass boiler. There will also be “excellent acoustic insulation”.

Galliford should be all done and off site by December 2009.

Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive, said “These projects will enhance our presence in these markets".
