Dawn Construction has been chosen to develop a a £100m hospital and leisure centre for NHS Ayrshire & Arran to in Irvine, as tipped by ContractJournal.com earlier this month.
The contractor picked up the work via the RD Health consortium, whose two principal members are Dawn Construction and Robertson Construction.
RD Health was formed exclusively to work in partnership with the NHS in Scotland as part of Frameworks Scotland.
Ray Eve, managing director for Dawn Construction, said: ""We are delighted to be part of Frameworks Scotland and this project with NHS Ayrshire & Arran signifies a major award to RD Health. The ethos behind the NHS framework is that partnerships deliver key benefits when delivering capital projects for NHS Boards and Special Health Boards throughout Scotland. These include earlier and faster delivery times, certainty of time, cost and quality as well as value for money and well designed buildings procured with a positive partnering environment.
"We are very excited at the prospect of working closely with NHS Ayrshire & Arran and our project partners on a project that will provide a fantastic new hospital for North Ayrshire. The majority of buildings on the current Ayrshire Central Hospital site are ageing and in poor physical condition. We look forward to working closely with our client NHS Ayrshire & Arran to develop the new Community Hospital for North Ayrshire which will thoroughly modernise and improve the provision of healthcare services for the local population."
