According to figures published in a draft version of TfL’s Annual Report and Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2009, which was presented to the TfL board this week, the number of staff in the group earning between £50,000 and £59,999 has more than doubled to 2,244, up from 1,119.

In addition, 440 group staff now earn between £70,000 and £79,999, up from 187 the previous year.

In the report TfL said: “The Group’s remuneration disclosure for 2008/09 includes the employees of the former Metronet businesses for the first time.

“The remuneration for those employees whose employment transferred to the Nominee companies, and subsequently to London Underground, has been included for a full year, even though they were only employees of the Group from 27 May 2008, in order to facilitate comparison with future years.”

Meanwhile, the highest earner at the TfL group earns between £570,000 and £579,999, up from the £540,000 to £549,999 last year.
