Flannery Hire of Castleford, West Yorkshire has taken delivery of a second batch of four Volvo ECR88 Plus midi excavators increasing the product portfolio for its operated and non operated supply business.
Established mid 2008, Flannery Hire has evolved from over 25 years of operating experience in the form of its parent company Flannery Civil Engineering.
"We saw a niche in our market for this size of machine and took our first four ECR88's last year, moving up a gear from the traditional 5½ tonne model," explained Pat Flannery. "We find the Volvo ECR88 to be a versatile machine - it's large enough to load tippers in a timely manner and carry out medium sized groundwork jobs yet small enough and highly manoeuvrable when the need arises.
They certainly bridge the gap between the traditional mini excavator and the small 14 tonne sized machine and have become very popular with our customers."
The Volvo ECR88 Plus is powered by a Volvo 3.4 litre low emission engine producing 57 hp coupled to a load sensing hydraulic system for fast cycle times and smooth control. The machine offers a generous horizontal reach of 7.3 metres and a lift capacity of 960kg at full reach across the carriage.

Operator comfort and excellent access to all the service points have added to Flannery Hire's appreciation of the machine. The ECR88 Plus has a comfortable, spacious cab with a wide uncluttered floor.
The instrument panel provides operators with at-a-glance monitoring of all key functions and operator fatigue is reduced through easy-grip, high response joystick control levers. The rubber-mounted cabs reduce whole-body vibration, and external noise minimizing the rigors of the jobsite whilst air conditioning with well positioned vents is a standard feature.
All eight machines have been equipped with check valves on the boom cylinders for lifting duties, Volvo immobilizers and vandal guards.
